Cover graphic for Episode 69 of Talking Home Renovations, "Promoting health and mental health through design". The background image is a 3D render of a complex of modern buildings with lots of green space and plants around. The red podcast logo appears in the bottom right corner.

Architect Isra Banks joined me this week to discuss the impact that our homes can have on our mental and physical health, and how we can promote physical and mental health through design. Are you optimizing your personal environment?

Two graphics side by side. One shows the hierarchy of privacy levels, with sidewalks, roads, and bike lanes as public, residential units as private, private yards as private, and shared yards as semi-private. The other shows privacy levels in residential units.

ARDEMAS
During the introduction of this episode I mentioned that Isra and I are working with Jay Caroli (architect from Vermont) to establish ARDEMAS, the Architects and Designers Mutual Aid Society. ARDEMAS is a membership group to dedicating to supporting fellow architects and designers in crisis. If a member needs help due to illness, accident or some other emergency, ARDEMAS will be there to help with immediate low interest loans and propping up that architect’s practice until they can get on their feet again. The membership will meet annually to reconnect with each other and explore best practices for our business, mental and physical health.
