Cover graphic for Talking Home Renovations episode 78, Working With an Architect. In the background photo, the architect Dory Azar is posing in front of a house he designed, an angular brick structure. The red Talking Home Renovations logo appears in the lower right.

I first met the architect Dory Azar on TikTok, or I should say that is where I first became aware of him. In his videos he shows his work, explains how to read plans, and celebrates his firm’s 10 year anniversary. We later started running into each other on the app Clubhouse, where we both went to the Context and Clarity club morning coffee room (9 am daily, if you’d like to stop by). Dory agreed to come on the show to talk about his experience as an architect. Here’s the episode transcript. I’m always amazed at how universal our experiences are. I believe Dory was my first international guest, another milestone.

Here are a few gorgeous images of Dory’s work.

A striking, angular, modern one-story house with red siding, designed by Dory Azar. Golden sunlight hits the side of the building while pink clouds pass through a blue sky overhead.
An angular, modern, abstract-looking brown-and-black house in the woods. In the foreground, plants grow out of a pond.
A house and garage designed by architect Dory Azar. The buildings have a clean, modern design, with sharply pointed black roof gables over white vertical siding.
